What do hockey, peacekeeping and HFO have in common?
December 13, 2022
According to Rocky Boyer, our Technical Manager for Building Enclosure, the common denominator is Canada. Rocky explains in his Sustainable Architecture & Building Magazine article, “Hockey, Peacekeeping and HFO”, that Canada is emerging as a world leader, not just in hockey and peacekeeping, but also as a leader in sustainability.
He explores Canada's contribution to carbon reduction by banning HFCs as a blowing agent. The ban reduces the impact of fluorinated gasses on the atmosphere. Today, most blowing agents used in spray foam in Canada have a GWP of 1. Board stock thermal insulation (XPS) has a GWP of less than 150 and meets the requirements set out by Environment Canada.
