Parkdale Landing officially opened in the Fall of 2018, transforming an abandoned east-end Hamilton Tavern into 57 affordable living units with ground-floor commercial space and a community kitchen. The three-story, 4,300m² transformation became Canada’s largest retrofit Passive House project.
Insulthane® Extreme closed-cell spray foam was applied over the existing brick to achieve the required R-values and air-tightness. Six inches of spray foam (three passes) over the membrane on the exterior was applied to achieve a nominal R-39. Fiberglass clips for the cladding were specified to reduce thermal bridging.
